Metering is an incredibly important aspect of photography to grasp. You might have heard about the exposure triangle but I believe we should be talking about an exposure square with metering being the forth side as it is equally as important to getting the correct exposure as your aperture, ISO and shutter speed.
We will explore how and when to use each of the metering options and how to use it to get some creative lighting in your shots.

ABOUT NORTHAMPTON
WATERCOLOUR
Come along to our meetups to improve your art in a relaxed and social atmosphere and under the guidance of a professional instructor. Complete beginners to experienced artists all welcome.

Our 2 hour meetups are held in a different location each time, usually outdoors.

Bring your own materials. If you are a complete beginner all you need to start is a set of watercolour paints, brushes, and water container.

Who can attend? Open to all skill levels, from beginners to experienced artists. The instructor is there to help everyone.

The meeting point and full details for the day are sent in the booking confirmation email to the email address you provide at time of booking.

Title or Location: Converse Shoes
I painted these shoes as they were the style of shoes I wore as a teenager. I used two colours for the painting (French ultramarine and Burnt Sienna). I chose those colours so that I could make my own blues, greys, browns and black. I also chose French ultramarine for the main part of the shoes for its granulation and to achieve a textured look. I used masking fluid on the laces and eyelets to preserve the white paper and so I didn?t have to paint around them. I did dry brush work on the soles

The reference picture is a royalty free photo I found online. I love all the different range of blue color and a bit of red to create nice contrast. All those tangled ropes don't matter anymore because the boat is resting in peace.

On the first visit to see my partner?s mother, I finally painted this project that i had the idea for a month. I usually paint on the plane rides but decided to paint while there. She saw me doing it and fell in love with it so we bought a frame there and she hangs it in her living room. We flew back to Houston. She said as a Puerto Rican, this is how her people feel. They are not immigrants, they are Americans, but they?re treated as immigrants. I could hear the frustration. I don?t have a

I recently painted a simpler version for a friend's baby shower gift and showed a photo of it to my daughter, who said... "Oh, I would love this!" She is my biggest supporter as I transition to retirement and dive into a newly found passion for watercolor. So, of course, I had to create a new painting, expanding on the first one, made just for her. She loved it and said it looks like a fairy flower garden, which it its!
